Children and bodywork.
A CHILD DOESNT SAY THEY FEEL STRESSED, THEY SAY THEY HAVE A SORE TUMMY.
A child having big emotional meltdowns after school, not wanting to eat their lunch, and worried about navigating school friends are all signals that the body is stressed and they the nervous system is dysregulated.
I work with primary-aged school children, offering a mix of both massage and nervous system regulation.
I always ensure the parent is the room with us, they are fully clothed and feel they have autonomy over the session.

Confidence, Calm, and Connection
Client: Jordan, 8 years old
Presenting Concerns: Low confidence, sleep difficulties, emotional reactivity.
Duration: 8 weekly sessions
Background
Jordan, an 8-year-old in Year 3, came to the clinic with his mum. Born after a long and challenging labour, Jordan had a vacuum-assisted delivery and experienced early tension in his body. Over time, this had manifested as low confidence, anxiety, and difficulty relaxing — affecting his focus and engagement at school.
This case study was to see if Jordan feel calmer, more grounded, and better able to handle the daily demands of school and family life.
Therapeutic Approach
The focus from the very first session was on creating safety and trust. Jordan was understandably cautious at first and communicated primarily through gestures rather than words — a thumbs-up became his way of letting me know he was comfortable.
Through gentle craniosacral therapy techniques, I supported his nervous system to settle, helping his body release stored tension and reconnect with its own innate rhythm and balance. Sessions were intentionally quiet, slow-paced, and spacious to support his natural capacity for regulation.
Over the course of 8 sessions, we worked primarily with the occipital region (base of the skull) and lower body holds, focusing on his system’s ability to reorganise from within. During one remarkable session, Jordan’s body spontaneously replayed a birth pattern — a deep integrative process often seen in craniosacral work — which allowed for greater flow and ease in his whole system.
Client Outcomes
By the end of the 8 weeks, both Mum and Jordan’s teachers noticed positive changes in his emotional, physical, and academic wellbeing:
- Improved sleep: Jordan now fell asleep easily and woke up energised.
- Happier mornings: He looked forward to school and began his day bright and positive.
- Better emotional regulation: Jordan was calmer and less reactive with his younger sister.
- Enhanced learning: His school performance noticeably improved — without any extra homework or tutoring.
- Increased confidence: He entered sessions smiling and comfortable, showing trust and openness.
Mum shared that Jordan appeared “more himself” — more relaxed, focused, and joyful in daily life.
Practitioner Reflection
Working with Jordan was a beautiful reminder of how powerful subtle craniosacral work can be for children. By simply creating a safe, attuned space, his body and nervous system did the rest — unraveling tension, restoring balance, and revealing a calmer, happier boy underneath.
Need A’s to Your Q’s?
30 minute appointment. Child is fully clothed and depending on the age is happy to be on the table. I will use massage techniques and Craniosacral Therapy to settle the child’s nervous system and reduce any pain or discomfort.
Your child will be processing and intergrating the experience for 48 hours after the treatment. They may feel tired. They may feel sad, angry or happy – depending on what emotions are stored and processed.
Just allow the space and compassion, offering co-regulation and support.
I always recommend lots of water.
Magnesium Glycinate at night – can be a capsule opened and mixed into liquid, or if a baby – epsom salt bath.
Many school-aged children with school anxiety I recommend end of term sessions (in the school holidays), an opportunity to decompress and relax.
Babies can be a few weeks apart, especially if treating a birth injury or trauma.
Yes, if your child has health care cover then you can claim the session.
Bookings online require the full payment.
